1,000 Trump NFTs allegedly kept in personal wallet

Former US President Donald Trump has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the launch of his own collection, called Trump Digital Trading Cards. The collection, which was sold on the OpenSea marketplace, sold out within a few hours of being made available on December 15.
On-chain analyst and NFT auditor "NFTherder" claims that Trump minted 1,000 of his own NFTs and kept them in a personal wallet. Screenshots shared by NFTherder appear to show several mints being sent to the TrumpCards Minter wallet on the same day that the collection was released. NFTherder also claims that Trump owns a significant portion of the 1/1 NFTs and autographed NFTs in the collection, although this information is not mentioned on the Trump Digital Trading Cards website.
The website states that only 45,000 cards were created in this initial series, with 44,000 being made available for sale. All metadata and artwork for the collection are stored off-chain at collecttrumpcards.com, where they can be altered without being verified on-chain. This raises questions about the authenticity and ownership of the NFTs in the collection.

The NFT market has seen a decrease in activity in recent months, with daily sales of around $7 million, down 70% from $24 million in early November. Despite this, the Trump collection has been a popular seller, ranking as the fourth best-seller over the past week according to Cryptoslam. The Bored Ape Yacht Club remains the top seller in the digital art world.
Some observers have speculated that if Trump had been re-elected, the crypto market may have experienced a pump. The former president has a history of making controversial statements about cryptocurrencies, including calling them "unregulated" and "based on thin air." However, his decision to enter the NFT market may signal a shift in his attitude towards digital assets.
It remains to be seen how the Trump Digital Trading Cards collection will be received by the wider NFT community. Some may view it as a novelty or a piece of political memorabilia, while others may be skeptical about the authenticity and ownership of the NFTs. Regardless, the collection's rapid sell-out shows that there is significant demand for NFTs featuring well-known figures.
